February 13, 2012: Registration Deadline, Creative Writing Workshop
Registration for this workshop, to be led by Belinda Anderson, is limited to 15 participants.
February 17, 2012: Entry Deadline, Youth Art Show
The 2012 Youth Art Show is open to all Monroe County students in
grades 5-12, and will be displayed March 3-26 in the Monroe Motors
Showroom in Union. Prizes in visual arts and creative writing will
be awarded at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 11.

April 6, 2012: Entry Deadline, Creative Writing Contest
Our 2012 Writing Contest welcomes all citizens of Monroe County 18 or
older to submit a creative writing of 1500 words or less.

Fall, 2011: "Monroe County Tales" Published
This new, limited edition publication (200 copies) features winners of the 2011 Writing Contest and the Youth Art Show Creative Writing Contest. The book combines personal stories, descriptions of local landmarks, and fiction. The stories are brief and poignant. Proceeds from the $5.00 price will be used to fund future writing contests and workshops. As of November, the Public Libraries in Union and and Peterstown still have copies for sale.

These events, presented by other organizations, receive support from our mini-grant program.

We helped to underwrite this workshop (partially fee-supported) related to our 2011 Creative Writing Contest.

Sponsored by Monroe Tourism and Friends of Monroe, this event is assisted by our mini-grant in covering expenses for materials, publicity and show awards.
