EVOLVER to Perform at Ames Clair on May 7

Evolver Silhouette showing three musicians

"Carnegie on the Road" and the Monroe Arts Alliance are partnering to present "Evolver" in concert at Ames Clair Hall on Friday evening, May 7, 2010, at 7:30 pm. A donation of $5.00 at the door is suggested but not required.

This musical collective was formed in 2006 and is inspired by a range of styles from jazz and world music to electronica and funk. The group is composed of Brian Carr (Lewisburg, WV) on trombone, Birch Graves (Sinks Grove, WV) on saxophone and flute, and rhythm section Matthew Patterson and Joshua Adamo on bass and drums. Sitting in with the group for this concert is the talented Diane Proud, whose tender vocals have roots in the folk tradition.

Evolver performs regularly at the Irish Pub in Lewisburg and the Greenbrier Sporting Club. "We draw in new musicians whenever we can to inspire new sounds and rhythms," says leader Birch Graves. "Each show is unique and full of passion."

Graves is a proud product of Monroe County music education and the Greenbrier East music program. He went on to study music at Guilford College and UNC Greensboro, and has been a music educator in public and private schools for 13 years. He is the son of Rodney and Helen Graves, also of Sinks Grove.

This concert is the first in a series of partnerships between the Monroe Arts Alliance and Carnegie Hall. "Carnegie on the Road" receives support from WV Culture and History, the WV Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. Accommodations for individuals with a disability are available upon request. Please contact the Monroe Arts Alliance at 304-772-4568.
