Our Community Mini-Grant Program

The Board of Directors of the Monroe Arts Alliance is happy to introduce a new initiative which has the potential of expanding and improving cultural opportunities in Monroe County for citizens of all ages.

Beginning in 2008, we are offering mini-grants of up to $500 for workshops, lectures, displays, demonstrations or other events which provide new educational programming in the arts. These could include instructional workshops in creative writing, visual arts, crafts, music or performance; a speaker series on a topic of cultural or historical interest; a display of local craft items, art or historical artifacts; or a demonstration or slide presentation on a specific subject.

Presenters or instructors could be local or visiting experts. The events must be open to the public without charge, though age restrictions appropriate to programming are allowed.

Written application on a simple one-page form (download) is required. All proposals will be reviewed by a Board committee, discussed at the next Board meeting, and will be responded to promptly after that time.
