2018 Youth Art Show Wrap-up

The annual Youth Art Show sponsored by the Monroe Arts Alliance was again a great success. Over 200 pieces of art were submitted by Monroe County public school and home schooled students. This year the initial show was held on April 29th at the Market St. and Co building in Peterstown. A following show of the ribbon winners was held in Union during Farmers Day in the Motor Show Room.

This year, Best of Show trophies and ribbons were awarded to four students, to Adora Doudy from Mountain View Elementary and Middle School, to Mackenzie Gray, Peterstown Elementary and Middle School, to Olivia Sears, James Monroe High School, grades 11-12 and to Jada Stutts, James Monroe High School, grades 9-10.

There were six offers to purchase some of the art work and two were sold. Selling artists were Gabby Hubbard for her "Cow" and Kaitlin Meadows for her "See Colors".

The Youth Art Show is one of the major projects of the Alliance. It is supported by the West Virginia Commission for the Arts and from generous private donations.
